Alt S O on Mac: Next Footnote menu in Word

To open the Next Footnote menu with Alt S O in Word on a Mac, install LightningXL, tap Option, then type S, O. The same keys as Windows, with the same result.

Step by step

1. Install LightningXL

   Download LightningXL, then follow the instructions. Setup takes about two minutes.

2. Select what to act on

   Put the cursor where you want it, or select the text or object.

3. Tap Option, then type S O

   Tap ⌥ on its own to show the key tips, then S for References, O for Next Footnote. That opens the Next Footnote menu; the next key tips show the items in it.

What Alt S O does

Alt S O opens the Next Footnote menu on the References tab of Word. Type one more key to pick an item:

• ⌥SON Next Footnote
• ⌥SOP Previous Footnote
• ⌥SOX Next Endnote
• ⌥SOV Previous Endnote
